This two-day intensive course is designed to improve ACT skills through experiential practice. Topics include:
Functional analysis (FA) as the foundation of ACT and as a tool to increase the precision and effectiveness of therapy
Using creative hopelessness as an application of PA and as an ongoing intervention to work more effectively with clients' experiential avoidance and disconnection from a life of values
Use of metaphors and experiential exercises in session to work on language dominance and practice psychological flexibility
Addressing challenges in clarifying values and committed action
Miranda Morris, PhD, is a psychologist in Bethesda, Maryland, specializing in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration Therapy (HRIT), Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). As a Peer Reviewed ACT instructor, she regularly teaches workshops on ACT and related approaches — including Functional Analytical Psychotherapy (FAP), Relational Frame Theory (RFT), and PAT.
Dr. Morris is the co-founder and instructor of Perspective Retreats, which offers workshops and professional training retreats integrating ACT with Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. She is also a founding member of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy & Healing (PATH), a collective of clinicians committed to advancing training and education about psychedelic medicines and ensuring equitable access to ketamine-assisted therapy.
In addition to her work with psychedelics, Dr. Morris co-founded True North Therapy & Training to bring contextual behavioral therapies to clients, professionals, and the broader community, and Women Summit, an organization dedicated to promoting connection, resilience, and empowerment among women.
A long-time leader in the Contextual Behavioral Science community, Dr. Morris is a member and past president of the Board of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), as well as past president of the ACBS Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
