When will you realize that Vienna awaits you?

On a Sunday morning, while I drank my coffee, a quiet playlist played. A song with a calm and pleasant melody gained my attention. She said, "Go slow, your crazy child. You're so ambitious for a young man. But if you're so smart. Tell me why are you still so afraid?" (“Slow down, you crazy child. You’re so ambitious for a juvenile. But then if you’re so smart. Tell me why are you still so afraid?”).  It was a song that some time ago a friend had referred me to me, and although I had heard her before, I had not stopped to hear her fully. Was named Vienna, Billy Joel, played by Gretta Ray. I kept listening to: “Where is the fire? For the hurry? You better calm down before you run out. You have so much to do and so few hours in one day” (“Where's the Fire? What's the Hurry About? Before You Burn It Out.  that touched me and allowed me to feel every verse.

Song followed: “Go slow, you're going well. You can't be all you want to be before your time” ( Slow, you're Doing Fine. You can be beauty you wanna your time”) Missing exactly six months to graduate in psychology, the weight of receiving the diploma comes with an expectation that 'now you are ready'; Something that seems somewhat unreal and pretentious in this field where knowledge never exhauses. Accepting this radically is somewhat uncomfortable as comforting: we are constantly forming beings. Although it is an effect of our times to feel a great pressure to have everything solved and not to be considered a sign of delay or failure, music invites you to look at here-and-agora and accept life just as it is right now.

Como Billy fala em outro trecho, “Você está tão à frente de si mesmo que esqueceu o que precisa” (“You’re so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need”), é muito fácil perder-se em autorregras sobre onde eu deveria estar, o que deveria estar fazendo, quais livros eu deveria estar lendo, e esquecer-se de olhar para as necessidades do aqui e agora. Am I aware of what I need now? Am I attentive and cultivating a life that is worth living? Am I approaching people and things that are important to me?

We are in a constant becoming and remembering this is to understand that here-agora is, besides, unique and ephemeral. At no time will we be who we are now we will not be as we are now: at this stage of the career, surrounded by these people, dreaming these dreams, sowing and reaping so many other moments and relationships. Letting yourself get lost in self-mentor or expectations of others, it prevents us from living today, and it is with this attentive and insightful look that music questions: When you will realize that not only Vienna awaits you, but life expects you?
