Cefi College

Support group for families with Substance Use Disorder

This proposal refers to a support group for family members who live with Substance Use Disorders, and need guidance and psychoeducation in these family relationships. Based on the above, the proposal of the Integration Center, which emerged to meet these demands at CEFI, becomes relevant. With the digital facilities currently available, using online meetings to instruct, guide and welcome the family living with the TUS is essential for strengthening the services provided by the Integration Center.

goal

General:

Welcome, guide and psychoeducate family members and spouses who live with people who use psychoactive substances, promoting greater mental health and resources to manage crisis situations in these people.

Specifics:

Accept the demands arising from living with people with SUD.

Provide space for speech to share situations and anxieties.

Guide on how TUS works.

Understand the complexity of the disease beyond the individual, considering the family and the environment as co-authors, both in the illness process and in the treatment of the disorder.

Provide relational psychoeducation.

Methodology

The group will be taught by the multidisciplinary team from CEFI - Integration Center - to monitor families.  From the integration of these different perspectives, the team works on aspects of the identified patient, the family and the family illness. A psychoeducational group will be developed aimed at family members of people with problematic substance use, with weekly meetings lasting approximately 120 minutes. The group will be led by a multidisciplinary team made up of psychiatrists, psychologists and a chemical dependency counselor, who will address topics related to understanding dependency, impact on the family, communication, healthy limits, care strategies and self-care. The methodology will include dialogue, space for exchanging experiences, participatory dynamics and support materials. The group will be open to direct family members (parents, spouses, siblings, children and caregivers), ensuring welcome and interaction.

The support group will not be closed, and you can join the group at any time in your schedule, as it brings psychoeducation topics about SUD in all meetings.

The group will be coordinated by a professional from the Integration Center, starting at 7pm until 8:30pm with an exposition of the theme for 20 minutes, after which speaking space will be given to each participant in the group, with a view to professional guidance given the demands exposed and the mutual help of the group itself.

Differentials

The difference between CEFI's support group for families is based on a scientific basis: updated content in psychiatry, psychology and addiction consultancy, with recognized evidence and protocols.

• Organized structure: sequential thematic modules, with clear objectives for each meeting.

• Applied practice: exercises, dynamics and family plans for everyday use.

• Professional support: personalized support, supervision and referrals when necessary.
